Write down any 14 rules or policies that you choose. Choose items that are no longer than one sentence or reduce the rule to one sentence.

Homework: Study the Vocabulary 2 word, synonyms, and antonyms.

Write the definition of Theme that is found in the Freshman textbook, Glossary of Literary Terms.
Start to look for a theme and some music that can represent that theme in your group section of The Secret Life of Bees. Here are some examples.

For your closing Thank you Theme slide, have an appropriate song or a piece of music that represents a Theme that occurs in your section or pages. Themes that occur in the book are like Love is patient, kind, and waits for answers. This theme relates to the character August who waits for Lily to reveal who she is, where she came from, and why she is running away. The song that might go with this theme is Love Will Find A Way by Pablo Cruise. Explain the theme that your group found for your section and then read, sing, or play one verse of the song. This is your closing.

Another theme in the book is Some people are just too sensitive for this world. This theme connects to the character May because she feels everyone's pain and has to sing or go to the wailing wall to release the pain she sees and feels around her. One group could use a verse and the chorus from Oh Susannah by Stephen Foster. Oh Susannah, oh don't you cry for me. I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee. That is just the chorus.
