Welcome to the PHS-ITC Garden Project
Sponsored by the Environmental Club

The Garden Mission Statement

"To provide an outdoor learning classroom that is both beautiful and functional and that can be utilized by all students at Pinnacle High School.  The Garden is designed to be environmentally friendly in a desert environment using low water, low maintenance plants.  Please join us in our fund raising efforts to bring this project to fruition."

The garden project offers a way for studets to grab a small taste of the outdoors, along with a calming environment that teachers can utilize for lessons, club meetings, and afterschool help. School gardens are very abundant in colleges and art schools, however high school gardens are a very rare find. This would add an outstanding feature to the features of Pinnacle, and offers a great addition to a school tour or freshman camp experience.

The Project Area

The area of the garden project takes place in the rear of the Information Technology Center (ITC), the boring, monotonous area that students walk through at the beginning of the year to recieve their books. This area never had a defined purpose, it is simply extra space that is waiting for an opportunity such as this one to come along. A google image of the ITC is pictured to the left, with a more detailed depiction below. The curved wall behind the ITC and the ITC walls are the boundaries of the project, and although it seems small as a map image, the area itself is quite substantial. The square area of the project actually measures to about 4 classrooms!

A Note from Principal Reynolds on the Garden Project

Pinnacle High School is proud to announce the Pinnacle Garden, an exciting new project especially designed for an area immediately adjacent to the Information Technology Center. This area is really an extension of the ITC, which will include an outdoor amphitheatre that will be used for outdoor classes and small musical or theatre performances. The area will also be used by the culinary department for various events. Members of the Environmental Society, also known as the Outdoor Club, were asked to partner with the ITC to design the garden as a multi-use area that will be accessible to all students. The landscape design is based on using a variety of succulents and other low water plant varieties. The Garden is designed to have a modern presentation to symbolize youth and a futuristic outlook. As the Principal of Pinnacle, I am looking forward to working with members of the community towards the completion of this project.
