Repeat & BELIEVE:
"I can do math! I can do math!"
To be successful you must do ALL of the following:
Evening/Homework:
1. Re-work the problems you had questions about in the previous lesson.
You MUST re-work these problems - just like they are brand new.
You MUST re-work these problems until you can solve them without looking at your notes from class.
You can & should use your class time to re-work them.
2. Re-read the section you did in class today.
You should have read it the first time the night before - this is your second reading
3. Do ALL your homework problems.
4. If you have questions - look at the example problems we did in class and the example problems in your book to see if
they can help.
TRULY GIVE EFFORT in trying to solve the problems. Do not give up after 3 minutes. Circle/star those problems that
you truly tried, but still could not understand. If you still need help, try the website links listed in this website and/or call a
study buddy.
5. Read the next section in your text. This is the new information you will be learning in class the next day.
In Class:
1. ASK QUESTIONS! Ask questions on problems you did not understand!
Use red ink to write down the correct way to solve the problem.
2. Write down ALL the new notes in Cornell Notetaking Form.
3. Write down ALL the new example problems. ASK QUESTIONS on the new information if needed.
4. Begin your homework IN CLASS so you can ask questions if you have any. Use your time wisely! Its very tempting to
waste the 15-30 homework minutes given in class. This is valuable time! Stay on task and do your work! Besides
having more tools available to help you understand the assignment - you'll have less homework that evening! You
should also rework all the problems you asked questions about from last night's lesson. You MUST re-work these
problems you did not understand last night.
Extra Help:
1. BE SURE you are doing EXACTLY what is listed above!
2. Teacher Help: ASK QUESTION IN CLASS! Do not waste your class time!
Mathematics can be harder for some students. Needing the extra help does not make you a failure! Some students
need more one-on-one help than can be given in a 40 minute class period
3. Find a study buddy - study with a friend that is also in the class.
4. Use the web links for extra problems and practice quizzes.
