Homework Folders will be sent home on Friday and are due every Thursday.
*****************************************************************
EVERY NIGHT:
*Read for 20-30 minutes. Record the number of minutes you read on your monthly calendar.
*Practice your spelling words. Choose from the suggested activities on the spelling page.
EVERY WEEK:
*Draw and write in your Homework Notebook. Make sure you include lots of details in your writing and colored drawings throughout. Write 1 to 2 pages (skip lines). Edit your work to correct punctuation and spelling. Share your Notebook on your assigned day. (See Homework Notebook Information for more details). Your assigned day is on the front of your Notebook.
*Complete assignments on your Weekly Communication Sheet. Ask your parents to sign it. Return only the Communication Sheet in your Homework Folder every Thursday.
AS ASSIGNED (instructions and date will be provided):
*Prepare a book talk at home. Fill out the "Hooked on Books" card and put it in the Book Talks poster to reserve a day to share your presentation with the class. (Take a look at the Book Talk slide show for directions and examples).
*Create a special project related to class studies. This will be approximately one project per quarter.

HOMEWORK POLICY:
*Homework is important. It gives you an opportunity to practice your skills at home. You are responsible for doing the work and asking for help when you need it. It is expected that you will honestly fill out the communication sheet, have it signed, and return it every Thursday in your Homework Folder.
*You will also need help recording your reading minutes throughout the month. At the end of the month, ask your parents to total the minutes and sign the calendar. It is due on the first of each month.
*It is very important to return assignments on the day they are due.
