Welcome to my web site!
3rd quarter - The students are looking at Earth's geological history - from it's formation 4.6 billion years ago to the current earthquake and volcanic activity.
This week, February 29th - students will continue investigating plate tectonics - what causes them and how they effect earthquakes, volcanoes and climate.
GENERAL:
7th grade students will study the diversity of life on this plant, the geology and geography of Earth and how in affects life and the mysteries of the solar system and beyond during this year.
HOMEWORK: If the students apply themselves and use the time wisely, almost all assignments can be completed in class. Anything not completed in class should be finished as homework. Students are encouraged to spend a few minutes each afternoon or evening reviewing the vocabulary words and notes from that day. As an alternative to science homework, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that the students spend at least 15 minutes every day reading books from the library or exercising.
ATTENDANCE: If a student is absent from class, it is their responsibility to determine if assignments were missed and to make up all work. To receive the maximum points the work must be completed within a reasonable timeframe. The web site will list what chapters are being covered during the week. Students are expected to read those chapters and add all vocabulary words and notes to their science notebook.
GRADES: The students grade will be determined by the total number of points earned divided by the points possible.
90 to 100% is an A
80 to 89% is a B
70 to 79% is a C
60 to 69% is a D
Less than 60% is considered a failing grade in science.
