Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination, and life to everything. -Plato
Welcome to Mrs. Sowers'
Music Class
In Music Class, we will be performing...
on pitched instruments:
recorders, xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels
on non-pitched instruments:
drums, maracas, tambourines, rhythm sticks
with our singing voices
We will learn how to read music by learning all about music notation.
We'll be moving to music...
folk dances, singing games, finding the steady beat with body percussion
We will listen to all kinds of music...
orchestral, vocal, classical, pop, folk music,
music from other cultures, music from other time periods
Our study of music will help us with other school subjects...

Science - physics of sound, energy
Language Arts - listening, speaking, reading

We'll learn a lot in music class, and we'll have lots of fun while we're learning!
