About Our Class Website:
Thank you for logging onto my web page! I am Mrs. Traynor, and I am your son's/daughter's 8th grade special education teacher for the 2010-11 school year. I would like to welcome you and your student to Desert Shadows Middle School (DSMS). This will be my seventh year teaching students with special needs, of which 1 year has been at DSMS. I am looking forward to working with you and your student this year.
Your student will be given two important items on the first day of school. First, is my monthly newsletter that you will receive at the beginning of each month. This newsletter is full of information about DSMS and the Sp. Ed. MR Program. Second, your student will be given a DSMS student planner/agenda. The planner goes home and is returned to school every day. The student planner is used for writing down important information, and it is used by all DSMS students.
All your student needs for the first day of school is a backpack and items listed below. Do not send in 3-ring binders or Trapper Keepers. If you would like to
get a head start, and have all supplies for the first day of school, the following are suggested items for your student:
1) a package of #2 pencil
2) eraser
3) a key lock for P.E. class, unless a combination lock is purchased that is manageable (Target sells an easy to use one)
4) a box of tissues
5) spiral notebook for Journal Writing
If you have questions about transportation for your student, please call the PVUSD Special Ed. Transportation Dept. at 602-449-2251. If your student will be absent or late, please call the DSMS office prior to 10:00 a.m. at 602-449-6800.
The DSMS Open House is Thursday, August 12, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. I hope you are able to attend. The first day of school is Monday, August 16, and the school day is from 7:49 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This website is an overview of class lessons, assignments, reminders, up coming events and sharing ideas.
