Welcome to Quail Run, an International Baccalaureate Candidate School.  In the fourth grade we focus on 6 units of inquiry in science, social studies, writing, and leisure time.  Hands on Foss Kits are utilized to teach Land and Water, and  Electricity and Magnetism units.   Students ask questions, investigate, share their knowledge with other students, and reflect on learned knowledge.  Arizona history is our focus for social studies, from the ancient Indians we learn about our footprints through time, and we visit the Pueblo Grande Museum.  War heros and state government cumulate with a field trip to the Arizona State Capitol Museum to tour the war memorials, museum and visit the legislative branch of our state government.

Thinking maps will help guide students to acquire a powerful tool for organizing thoughts, and stories will enhancing writing skills.  Accelerated Reading is part of our reading program and requires students to read daily at home for 15 minutes daily.  Along with our regular math program, we have Excel Math as a daily  practice.  Special projects include: book reports, a research report, socials studies projects, and a science fair project in the spring.  Students will learn to use technology to present powerpoint presentations  throughout the year.
