(My dog Josie)
Welcome to Mrs. Kendrick's 7th grade English class!
August 19th Update:
Infinite Campus is doing weird things. Anyone who earned 5 points of Extra Credit now has an "F" in my class! Oh no!!!! This is not a real "F" and will be fixed as soon as the wizards at district figure out what is wrong with IC. This is not just happening to my classes, it is all the English teachers who gave the EC assignment. UGH!!! Update - as soon as I enter a REAL assignment the EC will be calculated correctly. It will fix itself next week. No Stress!!!

A little bit about me:
Three years ago I married my husband, taking his last name, Kendrick.  If you ask older siblings, neighbors or friends about Mrs. Kendrick at DSMS, they might think you are talking about the principal! Students from more than 3 years ago would know me as, Miss. Bennett.

I moved to Arizona six years ago from Ohio, which means of course I am a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan!  I graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in Middle Level Education - Language Arts and Social Studies.  After college I taught for one year in Ohio before my now husband and I decided we had enough of the cold and snow!  Upon moving to the Phoenix area, I taught in a first through third grade classroom at a Montessori school.  I am now in my 6th year at Desert Shadows and I absolutely love it, as I'm sure you will as well!  All in all this is my 8th year in education and 6th year at DSMS.  Here at DSMS I serve as the Athletic Director, 8th grade softball coach, 7th grade Student Council Sponsor, and a team leader.

At DSMS we have a blocked 7th grade English, which means I will have the privilege of being with each of you for two class periods everyday.  This will give us the time to do the following:
*Reading (Literature &  Short stories)  Be prepared to read!  You will be required to read a minimum of 400 pages per month.
*Writing ñ Six Traits ñ Jane Schaffer
    -Narrative
    -Essay/Expository/Summary
    -Correspondence
    -Report
*Listening and Speaking unit
*Vocabulary (Word origins, Latin roots)
*Grammar
*Poetry
