4. It is important for your child to attend school everyday he or she is healthy. Many concepts we learn build on each other, and each day your child is absent makes it difficult to catch up on missed material. Reducing stressful situations for your child makes learning more enjoyable.
5. If your child is absent, he or she is responsible for making up all necessary assignments. Your student has one day for each day absent to complete the work. Students will be held responsible for finding out what assignments were missed and turning in make-up work at the appropriate time. Locating assignments is found in many places. Students write all assignments, quizzes, and tests for the week in their agendas every Monday morning. Additionally, parents can look on the website under Weekly Agendas to see weekly work. Students can also find weekly work on the Homework Board and board at the front of the classroom. Absent work is located in the homework folders under the Homework Board in the classroom. If you know your child will be absent for a substantial amount of time,
please send me an email so I can gather assignments and have them ready to be picked up in the school office.
6. Grades will be weighted and based on the following scale :
Daily work and homework - 30%
Quizzes and test - 30%
Projects, essays, and reports - 30%
Participation - 10%
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 59 or below
7. All graded assignments and tests will be returned to students. It is the student's responsibility to share assignments, quizzes, and tests with parents and guardians.
8. All grades are considered final in the computer unless the student can produce the graded assignment, quiz, or test.
MAKEUP WORK
It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and complete missed assignments upon return from any absence. Students will have one day for each day of absence to complete work missed.
HOMEWORK
Expect your child to have daily homework, Monday through Thursday, and some weekends. The completion of homework is the most important factor in making good grades in both middle and high school. Parents can assist their children to make good grades by placing an emphasis on the importance of homework. Encourage your child to find a quiet place to work on homework assignments at home. Additionally, help your child create a homework/study schedule each evening (for example, maybe the kitchen counter is the best place for homework/study time, and 7:00-7:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday would be a good time to study and complete assignments).
HONOR ROLL
Academic distinction is recognized and encouraged through an honor roll. The honor roll is compiled at the close of each nine-week quarter. Honor roll is based on a student’s grade point average of 3.25 to earn Honor Roll status, and a 4.0 grade point average is required for inclusion on the Principal's Honor Roll.
