For Monday, everyone needs a small, sewn-in pages, Composition Notebook for Latin Roots and vocabulary! Make sure you have one in your backpack before Sunday night!!!!
Letters of Introduction: I am enjoying reading your letters of introduction. Grading writing takes a long time. I have received a letter from everyone, so no one will be receiving a zero! It takes about 10 minutes to read and grade a letter. With 97 students, that is 970 minutes or about 16 hours of my evenings and weekends. So, it will take me about two weeks to get these graded. Thanks for being patient as I get them all graded. :)
August 23rd Update:
A ZERO????
I have a ZERO for a grade; what does it mean? Well, when I enter grades, if I don't have a score for you, I enter a zero. It could be that you didn't do the assignment, or it could be that you were absent when it was due or handed in. If you have a zero and you were absent, you need to remember to give me the work as soon as possible. If you missed a test (later in the year), you need to make arrangments with me and come in at lunch to make it up. When the assignment is turned in or the test is made up, the zero will disappear. You rock! Thank you for all the donations that have been pouring in. You can't know how much it will mean to the students during the year to be able to just grab a pencil or piece of paper when they run out. This is a real blessing! Thank you!
I think we are off to a great start. Tomorrow we start our first real writing assignment, so be ready. :)
A video permission slip was sent home from Mr. Zepeda. It covers our whole team (English, social studies, and science). By signing it you are stating you have read the team letter and have filed out the Parent Contact Survey (links are just below). Please take the time to read the letter and provide us with current contact information. It will help us to have a successful year.
MAKE SURE YOU BRING A NOVEL FOR SSR!!!!! You will earn points next week if you have a book (and lose points if you don't)!
