Welcome to Eight Grade Social Studies at Sunrise Middle School. I am excited to have your children in my class. This year we will study American History from WWII to present Day Foreign Policy. In Civics we will learn about Government in a way that prepares your child to become thoughtful participants in our Society. My goal is to have your child thinking critically by questioning and evaluating what they see, hear and read.
Students need to come prepared for all classes. It is important for students to attend class. However, if there is an absence students are responsible for making up all assignments. Students have one day to complete and hand in missed work for each day they are absent.
SUSTAINED SILENT READING
Students will be reading for the first 10 minutes of a class period every day of the week. Students are expected to have with them each day an appropriate Novel.
GRADING
To evaluate students, all grades are entered in Power Grade and are set up into Category Points.
I have specified 4 categories:
Homework, Tests, Community Service, and Participation.
