Instructor Mr. Larry Burney
(Generation of Youth and Educators Succeeding) is the premier solution for schools looking for research-proven methodology designed to integrate technology school-wide. Students work with teachers to bring effective technology into the classrooms and libraries. The resulting collaboration provides the students with project-based learning and the teachers with on-site sustainable professional development. Each student in this class is paired with a partner-teacher at the school. Each of these student-teacher teams then plans a lesson or curriculum unit that can be enriched by technology. The projects that the GenYES student and their partner-teacher create are used in the partner-teachers classroom. In the GenYES class, the student not only learns the technology skills necessary to complete the project, but also "soft" skills, such as planning and collaboration, necessary to complete these authentic long-term projects. As the project comes together, the partner-teacher gets technology
support they need when and where they need it - in their classroom. The result is an authentic project-based learning experience for the students and sustainable technology professional development for the teachers. This powerful model has been refined and proven in real classrooms around the world.
The class is a one semester class. Grading is on a total points system. There will be a weekly grade based upon teacher and peer interaction and effort and participation. There is an instructional/technology lesson that will be evaluated by a 100 point rubric. This will be due at the end of each quarter.
