2009-20010 PHYSICAL EDUCATION REGULATIONS

SCHEDULE:       Everyday- Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Fri.  Three-week units.

EXPECTED        1.            A tardy will result if you are not in the locker room at the bell.
BEHAVIOR:       2.      Correct roll call order on time and remain seated until dismissed.
                3.      Follow all directions and school rules.
                4.      Bring material to class: uniform, pencil for test.
                5.      Pay attention in class.  Do not interrupt others.
                6.      Respect the rights and feelings of others.
                7.      Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.
                8.      No profanity or gestures.
                9.      Proper care of PE equipment.
                10.     Chewing gum, eating candy/food, or non-water drinks is not allowed during class.
                11.     The PE Department will follow the ABC Behavior Program.  The automatic buddy situations in PE will be for                       any type of harassment or safety issues, and non-dresses.
                12.     Leaving the locker room before the end of class will result in a truancy referral.
                13.     Jewelry needs to be appropriate and safe for class participation. Facial piercings are not permitted in PE.

GRADING:        Grades are updated after each three-week unit.
You should expect your child to earn an “A or B” in PE.

DRESS:  A uniform is required for participation in PE.  Adult size Uniforms can be purchased starting on the 3rd day of school. Uniform         shirts are $8.00 and shorts are $12.00.
                        
1.      Uniform shirt or plain gray t-shirt (name above heart)
2.      Uniform shorts or elastic waist black shorts (name on left leg)
3.      Appropriate athletic shoes, securely tied, no street shoes
4.      Optional:  Sweat pants and /or shirts for cold weather
5.      Shirts must be tucked in at all times

PE LOCKS:       Locks are required and are available from the PE Dept. for $5.00 on the second day of
school.  Money is refunded when lock is returned.  Combination locks will only be
accepted.  Students are responsible for securing their own locker.  Home locks will be engraved with the locker number.

LOCKERS Small lockers are for PE clothes.  Only one student is assigned to each locker.  Large lockers are for school clothes and backpacks during your PE class only.

STUDY           Rules and general information for each unit are passed out a week or more before each
GUIDE:  written test.  If the study guide is returned in good condition, one extra credit point is given on the test.

FRIDAY’S        This cardiovascular activity is required of all students or an incomplete grade will
RUN:            result.  Temporary and permanent physical impairments will be compensated.  Students are asked to complete this activity                by walking, jogging, or running.  They are never required to run the entire 7/10’s of a mile.

EXCUSES:        The student must give the teacher a note from a parent/guardian before roll call.
Parent note good for up to three days.  Please include date and explanation of situation.
For excuses over three days, the district requires a doctor’s note.

MAKE-UP If a student is absent from PE, make-up work is required to earn their points for the day.
WORK:   A student needs to complete half an hour of physical activity at home for each day
absent.  Student need to pick-up make-up slips in the PE office, fill them out, have a guardian sign to verify activity, and turn in to their teacher no later than two weeks after each unit.
