SEVENTH GRADE LANGUAGE ARTS
KAREN BAKER - MARCH 2010

LITERATURE:  We will be reading "Dragon Wings."  We will be working on activities related to the story along with vocabulary.  Their will be no reading homework unless your child is absent.

SPELLING AND VOCABULARY:  Spelling words for this month will be introduced at the beginning of each week. Students are responsible for defining the word, using it in a semantic web along with several other spelling activities. Spelling is due on Friday of each week.

GRAMMAR:   We will be reviewing the parts of speech in class.  Students will be responsible for keeping track of them in their interactive notebooks.  Our Interactive Notebooks will be set up Cornell style.  Ask your child about this method.

WRITING: Students will interviewing a person in the community and writing a newspaper article about their life.  More information will follow.

STUDY ISLAND:  Students will be taken to the computer lab to work on Study Island each week.  It is also recommended that students work on Study Island at home at least once a week for 45 minutes.

BOOK PROJECTS:  Book Projects will be due on Thursday, March 25th.  Students should be reading a novel at home daily in order to prepare for this project.
