7th and 8th grade Language Arts ~ 7th grade Study Skills

Language Arts:  We are currently reading weekly a series of short stories from the Scholastic XL reading book.  We are working with the Accelerated Reader program.  In Language Arts we are addressing - decoding, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.  The READ ABOUT program is also being used in the curriculumn.  This program is working on student comprehension skills.  Students are also working on Study Island in the Reading section.

Students need to be reading 15 - 30 minutes a night independently.  They have a bookmark log that is due and checked for homework every Friday.  Parent initials a required for full credit.  Vocabulary homework will be assigned weekly, with small parts to be completed at home.  The entire vocabulary packet will due on Friday.
