6102008_71548_11.pngPlease be sure you are having your student work on homework nightly.  They know what they are to do every evening.  If you want to know also, just ask to see their STAR Notebooks.  They should be writing in it every evening.  Homework on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings is up to you, unless your child has work to complete from the previous week.

6102008_71548_11.pngPlease remember, if you have any questions or concerns about the curriculum or class, contact me as soon as possible.  Better yet, come in and see me.  I love the opportunity to clear up any issues and will help you as much as possible.  We need to work together to help your child to be successful and have a great year!

6102008_71326_0.pngMrs. Povinelli...
I began teaching 27 years ago.  However,  I was fortunate to be able to be off 9 years to take care of my family.  This year is my 18th year of teaching, my 13th year at Mercury Mine.  I have taught grades 1, 2, 3, 4, & 6.  I have a gifted endorsement and taught gifted classes at Mercury Mine and Desert Cove for 3 of my years.  My husband and I have two children...Amy, is a senior at the University of Arizona and Johnny, is a sophomore at Northern Arizona University.  We have 3 dogs: Dakota, a 5 year old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix; Cheyenne, a 10 month old Border Collie, and our latest addition (another puppy) Border Collie/Australian Shepherd named Zuni.   In my "free time" I enjoy cooking, playing with my dogs (Dakota and I have taken agility classes for 3 years and Cheyenne and I are in beginning agility classes), camping, spending time with my family, being an active member of a woman's organization called P.E.O., and looking on the internet for teaching ideas!  I am looking forward to getting to know all my new students and to having a terrific year!
