First of all, I want to take the opportunity to thank all the parents who attended parent/teacher conferences and who have supported us through our wonderful PTSA events.  October was a very, very busy month.  Our second Carnival was terrific, and even more successful than the first.  Our Family nights at various local restaurants have been enjoyable and rewarding.  If you shop at Fresh & Easy, don't forget to turn in your register receipts to the office.

I can't emphasize enough how many opportunities we have at Vista Verde to provide your children with added help, even if they are great students.  

• FREE after school-tutoring by tutoring companies.  This offer is valued $1000 and comes to us by virtue of being a Title I school.  The tutoring takes place after school, and late buses are available.  There is enough money in this No Child Left Behind pot to provide extra assistance to every student at Vista Verde!  It's not too late to sign up.  E-mail Linda Crawford (lcrawford@pvschools.net) or Karen McMahon (kmcmahon@pvschools.net).
• After school math help through our own AAA club.  Our 7th and 8th grade math teachers offer specific math homework help Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Check with your child's math teacher.
• Saturday Cognition Ignition math.  This specialized program was a major hit last year.  Students who struggle with having math make sense can attend this 9:00 a.m. to noon class, which approaches math from a totally different perspective.  The students who attended last year rarely missed, a sure sign that the program was both fun and successful.  Contact Deb Boccelli at (dboccelli@pvschools.net) if you are interested.
