Welcome to our classroom!
Third Grade - Room 11

Daily Homework:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Research indicates an appropriate amount of time for homework is approximately 10 minutes for each grade level.  I recommend a quiet work place with no TV, computer or phone distractions.  The total in our classroom is 30 minutes as follows:

Reading: 20 minutes
Can be any type of reading your child enjoys, including picture books, chapter books, magazines, newspapers, cookbooks, etc.  This includes time read alone by the student, together taking turns, or time read to the student by the parent.  I hope this can be a relaxing, rewarding activity that becomes a lifelong passion for your child.

Math: 10 minutes
Your child will usually bring home a math sheet in which we have completed one side together.  The other side with the same math concept is to be done at home.  You don't have to finish the entire worksheet, but please encourage your child to do as much as they can without getting tired or frustrated.  If your child does not understand the concept, please have him/her bring the sheet back to school so that I can give extra support.

If we have a test that day there will be no math sheet sent home, so please have your child get the 10 minutes through basic math facts (+ - x /) practice using paper/pencil, math computer drills, mental practice, or flash cards.

After completing this, you should record the number of minutes for each activity in the Daily Homework Folder, and add your signature.  If your child forgot her/his folder at school, you can substitute the math sheet with 10 minutes of math facts.  Then please write a quick note with the minutes completed and your signature.
