Welcome to 2010! Mr. Baker and I are encouraged by the progress we have seen in the first half of the year and look forward to continued success in the 2nd semester.

In addition to helping teach and model behaviors, I am focusing on student's reading and writing skills. During their class time with me, we are working on programs such as Study Island, Accelerated Reader, and Developing Metacognitive Reading Strategies. We have read The Outsiders and Animal Farm to expose the students to novels, and have begun The Giver to begin the second semester. My goal is to help each student improve his or her ability to read fluently and comprehend what has been read along with developing school appropriate behaviors that will allow them to be part of mainstream classes.
