Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
This semester all classes have started studying poetry. We will be exploring various poets and patterns to build our skills in reading and writing poetry. By the end of this unit, students should gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of poetry.
MYP English -
Nightly assignments will vary depend on students' progress in class. Please keep an eye on their planners to check for nightly work.
Each student is working on an independent study of a poet. There are 5 components to the project (biography, collection of poems, critique, creation, and presentation). Projects are due January 27th.
AR Goals for Quarter 3 are due Friday, March 5th.
7th grade English
Each day we are learning new figures of speech and poem patterns. Students should be building their poetry portfolio nightly. In addition, they have a poetry project to work on that is due, January 27th.
We are also studying Latin and Greek roots. Students receive a packet on Mondays, work on them throughout the week (both in and out of class), and there is a spelling/vocabulary test on Friday.
AR Goals for Quarter 3 are due Friday, March 5th.
