SIXTH GRADE POLICIES
SIXTH GRADE POLICIES
ASSIGNMENT CALENDARS: Students are encouraged to have a yearlong assignment calendar, which should be brought home each night and reviewed by parents to insure completion of assignments. Class time will be given for recording each day’s homework. Teachers will post homework assignments daily on their website. There are no excuses for not knowing about homework. Please check your student’s assignment calendar and/or the assignment calendar portion of our website each evening; ask to see completed homework. Web addresses are: http://cmweb.pvschools.net/~bskoff/, http://cmweb.pvschools.net/~mgrubb/ and http://cmweb.pvschools.net/~plambert.
6TH GRADE HOMEWORK POLICY: Homework is critical for reinforcing skills learned in class in addition to emphasizing personal responsibility. Your child can expect to have 45-90 minutes of homework per night. Students should also read at least 30 minutes each evening. Math homework will be assigned almost daily. Calculators should not be used, unless instructed otherwise. Remember that homework is practice and helps teachers assess learning. Parents should advise teachers if homework seems overly difficult or time consuming for their child.
GRADED ASSIGNMENTS: In order for students to be successful in middle school experience, our policy will be to accept no late assignments once our routine is established. During the first nine weeks of school, students will have up to one week from the time a grade is posted in the online gradebook to turn in a missing assignment and still receive full credit. Beginning with the second quarter, no late work will be accepted and the student will receive a “zero” for the assignment. It is the student’s responsibility to seek missing assignments and follow through on completing missing work for absences of any reason. Students who are absent will have the same number of days as the absence to turn in make-up work.
