About Me
Hello fellow Trailblazers! My name is Beth Skoff and I teach sixth grade here at Explorer Middle School. Teaching is my “second career.” Before becoming a teacher, I was a human resources professional at Nabisco (the company that makes Oreo cookies and Ritz crackers), Medtronic (a medical equipment company), and The Arizona Republic (our local newspaper). I enjoyed my work, but got tired of corporate life and its mergers, acquisitions, layoffs and politics. So I quit, got my teaching certificate, and am now doing a job that really makes a difference – teaching! I taught fourth grade in the Madison school district, fifth grade at Village Vista Elementary School in the PV district, and sixth grade at Wildfire Elementary School. I am excited to join you in your
move to middle school.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in business management, a master’s degree in human resources, a post-baccalaureate in elementary education, and an endorsement in English as a Second Language.
I grew up in New Jersey, not far from New York City. I moved to Arizona in 1991 when my husband, Bob, took a job with The Dial Corporation (now Henkel of America). I have two children who I am extremely proud of. Both are students at Horizon High School. Christopher is a senior and Katie is a junior. Go Huskies!! Both kids are active in sports and music, and I am their biggest fan. I have two dogs, Angus (a Border Collie) and Tootsie (a miniature Australian Shepherd), and one very fat cat, Daisy. In my spare time, I enjoy all kinds of music and theater, and I like to play golf, read, travel and, of course, keep learning! See you on campus!
