International Baccalaureate Program Contract

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through understanding and respect. To this end, four areas have been identified that are cornerstones of Vista Verde Middle School’s expectations for it’s IB students:

• Integrity

Students participating in the IB program are expected to maintain a high level of integrity in their school work and in their school relationships. Responsibility, honesty and honor are traits encompassed within integrity and are viewed as essential components of the IB program.

• Respect

The IB program emphasizes a global view and awareness of other cultures and different ways of thinking; and although disagreements may occur, treating others with respect is always expected

• Industry

Effort goes hand-in-hand with industry. Class participation, consistent completion of assignments, doing quality work and utilizing good study habits are hallmarks of successful students in the IB program.

• Achievement

The IB program is designed for students who are academically motivated and who historically have demonstrated good grades and test scores. It is the expectation of the IB program that students continue to perform at the A or B level to remain in the program.

The IB team of teachers and administrators at Vista Verde view these four qualities as essential. If any of these areas come into question, the student may face probation or removal from the program.
