After a few weeks, he came to me during silent reading and said, “Guess what Miss Dunn! I read that the President does more than just sit behind a desk! He actually does stuff!” It was so great to see him so excited about reading.

Describe a special teaching moment. It may be the fist time you realized you made the right career choice or a short story of a student who touched you. When I was student teaching, I was asked to take over a classroom at another school where the teacher had left and they’d gone through 3 or 4 teachers by October. Two of the parents came to observe me student teaching. Those two parents wrote one of the most encouraging and supportive letters and sent home to all the parents in that class explaining how excited they were to have me as their child’s teacher.
Add anything else you would like about yourself, your family, your teaching philosophy, etc. Between my husband and I, we have 11 nieces and nephews. Soon to be 12, and I can’t wait to meet my new niece in February!

What led you to become a teacher: Always loved spending time with kids; they make me laugh! I love to hear their perspectives, and I love to watch them learn and grow.
How would you describe your teaching style and philosophy, your beliefs about how students learn best, your goals in the classroom: My teaching style could be described as fair and consistent. I believe sutdents can learn best by applying what they're learning to real life situations. Also, incorporating creativity and laughter (into any lesson) is key. One important goal in my classroom is to help students realize and understand that making a mistake is just another way to learn.
