
Parent-Teacher Board Position Descriptions
President-
will oversee the running of the organization as well as officers and
committees. The President works with administration, staff, and the
school community with the goal of enhancing the educational opportunities
of the students of Sonoran Sky.
1st Vice President- will be responsible for membership
drive and completion of the Sonoran Sky Directory. This position would
be excellent for someone with computer skills. You will have a liaison
who has worked on the Directory before to guide you through the process.
Individual will be responsible for the gathering information, compiling
data, and distribution of the directory.
2nd Vice President- will be Chairperson of the Sonoran
Sky Political Action Committee (Sky PAC). Along with committee members
this position will address political and legal issues, provide communication
to the school community regarding these issues, attend school board
meetings, and work with and serve as a resource to the District lobbyist
on legislative issues as needed.
3rd Vice President- will be Chairperson of the Enrollment
and Marketing Committee. Along with committee members will work in
conjunction with administration and staff to increase our visibility
and marketability in the community-at-large.
4th Vice President- will be Chairperson of the Enrichment
Committee. Along with committee members will work with administration
and staff to develop and implement educational enrichment programs
at Sonoran Sky.
Secretary- will be responsible for the taking of
minutes at PTO Board meetings as well as the distribution of those
minutes in written form.
PTO Treasurer- works with the President and Board
members in the keeping of financial records, deposits, reimbursements,
and all other financial data associated with the PTO.
School Treasurer- works with administration, staff,
and PTO board to maintain all school accounts.
Hospitality- will be Chairperson of the committee.
Along with committee members this person is responsible for teacher
luncheons, dinners, and Teacher Appreciation Week. There are approximately
8-10 functions, not including Teacher Appreciation Week, throughout
the school year that this committee will be responsible for.
Fundraising Coordinator- will coordinate the distribution
of information regarding the new Voluntary Donation Program, gathering
of the donations, record keeping, and depositing the donations.
Community Representative/ United Parent Council Representative
(UPC)- will be responsible for attending all UPC meetings
and PTO Board meetings. Also will be responsible for communicating
UPC information to the Sonoran Sky Community.
Community Representative- will be responsible for
attending all Board meetings and acting as liaison between community
members and the PTO Board. This position will also include serving
as Chairperson of the Communications Committee for the 2003-2004 school
year. The responsibilities of this will include working with staff,
District, and committee members to keep the Sonoran Sky Web Site updated.
Also, information that will go into the Navigator will be gathered
by this Committee.
