How to Find Books



Start by clicking on the Books button on the media home page.  This will only work at school!

Search for the title, author or subject keyword you want.  

Jot down the numbers.

Look all around the media center room, starting at the door

Look there are numbers from 100 to 900.  

It's all about Dewey.  Check out the movie.



WAIT!  There's more!  

If your number has an F in front of it, then it's fiction.  Good stories and novels like this are found in the FICTION Zone!  These books are organized by the authors last name!

If your number has a B in front of it, it's a biography.  It's written about or by a person. These books are in the BIOGRAPHY Zone.   If it's about Tupac find it under T.   If it's about Brittney Spears look under S.

Reference books are a whole special section and are located by the entrance doors right when you come in.  They are collections, special series, encyclopedias and

The Dewey Decimal System is made up of ten main classes or categories, each divided into ten secondary classes or subcategories, each having ten subdivisions.

   * 000 – Computer science, information, and general works
   * 100 – Philosophy and psychology
   * 200 – Religion
   * 300 – Social sciences
   * 400 – Languages
   * 500 – Science and Mathematics
   * 600 – Technology and applied science
   * 700 – Arts and recreation
   * 800 – Literature
   * 900 – History and geography and biography





Yah..the real Melvil Dewey!
