The PVUSD Nutrition & Wellness Department is proud to serve as an important resource for the students, staff and community. The department's mission is to provide nutritious meals and support and enhance the learning process.

By fostering nutritious eating habits, our district's children will be prepared for a healthier lifestyle. All district schools participate in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. District menus are analyzed annually using computer software to ensure that nutrient standards established by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) are met. Free and reduced-price meal applications are available in the school offices, cafeterias, and the Nutrition & Wellness Department offices.

The PVUSD Nutrition & Wellness Department:

  • Serves an average of 20,000 meals per day
  • Serves meals that meet USDA guidelines to provide essential nutrients and 30% or less calories from fat
  • Provides high nutrient snacks to 44 district after school and preschool programs
  • Serves universal breakfast in the classroom at seven district schools
  • Offers one of two dietetic internships nationally that specializes in school food service and child nutrition
  • Developed nutrition education curriculum for grades 2, 3, 5, and 7 taught by dietetic interns
