Sunset Canyon was the second Core Knowledge School in the Paradise Valley School District, and was opened in 1999. Our teachers focus on teaching the Arizona State Standards, and also emphasize the importance of the arts and sciences. At Sunset Canyon, students and teachers follow the philosophies of the Make Your Day Program in regards to citizenship and respecting themselves and others. Teachers use innovation and creativity when teaching lessons which adhere to the standards and the Core Knowledge Sequence. Students also understand the relationship between science and their everyday lives because of the hands on activities
