Welcome to Sunset Canyon!  I hope that you find the information listed on this website to be of assistance to you.  The SCES Staff and I are looking forward to partnering with our parent community so students achieve optimal success.   Since this is my first year as the principal of Sunset Canyon, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. In 1995, I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis in mathematics.  Although I am a Sun Devil at heart, my Master's degree in Educational Leadership is from Northern Arizona University. I have spent the past 14 years of my life as an educator, the last four as an administrator at Sunrise Middle School.  Prior to working at Sunrise, I was a 7th and 8th grade math teacher, TOA/dean, math department chair, athletic director, volleyball and basketball coach, and academic team leader. Some of my accomplishments in my career are as follows: 2003 DVUSD Teacher of the Year, 2001 ASU Master Math Teacher, 1997 and 1998 Channel 8 ASSET Teacher, 1998 Project Alert Teacher (A Drug Free America), and nominated for the outstanding Rookie of the Year award my first year of teaching in 1995. My goal for this upcoming school year is to develop and foster relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff  while keeping student safety, academic achievement, and character education as my top priorities.  It is paramount that the school and Sunset Canyon families work together  as a team to ensure the success of our children.  I truly believe it "Takes a Whole Village to Raise a Child." I am looking forward to working with the Sunset Canyon community!
