Kindergarten
Quail Run kindergarten students learn by doing. We
combine spoken language development activities with instruction
in all areas of the curriculum. Students have the opportunity
to use manipulatives for understanding math concepts, as well
as being introduced to mathematics symbols and problem solving.
The
schedule includes large and small group instruction, with many
opportunities for discussion of literature. The students
respond to stories and real experiences in a learning journal. Emphasis
is placed on emergent literacy through phonemic awareness, phonics,
and reading their own words in journal activities.
Science experiences are provided using the discovery approach. Parent
volunteers are actively involved in their children's classrooms.
