Relevance - Projects
Academics
Reading, writing and mathematics will be fully integrated into all three programs of study. Mathematics and science courses are required for each year of study and in many cases are integrated as year long combined courses. Paradise Valley High School employs a literacy coach who works with all CTE teachers on integrating academics into their classes. Just by their nature, each of these pathways provide CTE classes that are rich in academic content while embedding the new CTE Bioscience and Engineering standards into all aspects of the curricula.
STEM Collaborative Project
The second semester of year three of each program of study CREST students will participate in a STEM collaborative project. This course is offered as an inter-disciplinary culminating project and is thematic in nature. Students from all three CREST programs work collaboratively in teams to design products that meet the demands of real world problems. Examples of project topics include: green technologies, advances in medical diagnoses, and sustainable water supplies in arid regions. Analytical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, communication and peer review, all 21st Century skills, provide students with an avenue to demonstrate what they have learned at CREST.
