How do I view my transcripts for the years prior to 2005-06?

Contact the Professional Development Department for copies of your district transcript priot to the 05/06 SY.

Do I need to keep a log of professional development / growth events I have completed?

All teachers are encouraged to meticulously maintain a Professional Portfolio of professional events attended. ProDev recommends your portfolio begin with an up-to-date listing of topic, location, date, start time, end time, credit type, representative’s name and signature.

Principals may sign for PD that occurs through faculty meetings. Behind the listing, save a copy of the syllabus and any issued certificates. It is the responsibility of every certified employee to maintain their own professional log.

What is the difference between Professional Development and Professional Growth and how do I earn these hours?

Professional Development (PD) clock hours may be earned by attending any professional event. PD can be used for state re-certification. PD can be earned while “on-the-clock”. [State re-certification requires 180 hours per 6 years.]

Professional Growth (PG) clock hours may be earned by attending a professional event which has been approved for PG by the Professional Growth Committee (PGC). The event may be sponsored by in-district, out-of-district, or academia. Prior to the event, an application for PGC approval can be submitted to Personnel:

  • Individually by participants
  • For a group by the presenter, or
  • Automatically for ProDev-sponsored in-services which link to the academic standards or move the teaching practice forward

PG can only be earned “after-hours”, outside the contracted workday. PG can be earned by state-certified as well as provisional teachers. PG can be used for state re-certification. PG can be used for pay-scale advancement if no district funds were used to pay for training the individual. [Personnel equates fifteen (15) seat-time clock hours to one (1) credit toward pay-scale advancement.]

Academic credits earned from coursework completed at an accredited college for which you will receive a grade report and/or transcript can be used for state re-certification. If approved by PGC, academic credits may also be used for PVUSD pay-scale advancement (PG) by submitting your grade report or transcript to Personnel.

PG will not be awarded to individuals:

  • who have already attended the class in the past
  • who received district funds to attend the class
  • whose tuition costs were paid by PVUSD
