Parents of Pinnacle

POP is a combination of previous parent groups that have worked hard over the past years to assist PHS with many traditions that define us. We consist of an executive board, various committees, and general members.

Parent participation and support are always welcome-we couldn't do it without you. There are many ways to help support POP. Begin by visiting our web page using the link below to see the financial and volunteer opportunities available.

POP is the parent organization for the students who attend PHS.  We pledge support and assistance to our Pinnacle family of students, staff, and parents.

POP has provided:

  • The all-night safe party for the graduating seniors, “Project Grad”
  • Scholarships for the Senior class
  • Teacher and staff appreciation & support
  • Special programs for students and parents
  • Up-to-date communication informing parents of PHS happenings
  • Club support & assistance as needed
  • Insurance and tax preparation services for all applicable parent sub-clubs for school organizations, sports teams, and extra-curricular activities.

Parent support and help are the key to our success.  Please visit our Website and see what POP is all  about!

A friendly reminder about parking

We are anticipating a student enrollment of over 1,100 junior and senior students with roughly 500 parking spaces. At this time, we have issued all of our parking permits. However, over the summer some students have notified us that they will not be purchasing a parking permit. In that case, senior students will be given first priority and if there are any spots remaining, junior students will place their name into a lottery. At this time we do NOT expect a lottery that would involve juniors; however, junior students are free to put their name into the lottery and we will keep their names on file. If you have already submitted your name for the lottery, we have it on file.

We remind everyone that student discipline and attendance are considered for a student to register/maintain a parking permit on the PHS campus. Students will not be eligible for a parking permit if they have two or more suspensions or any combination of five or more discipline/attendance/tardy referrals. Students must also follow the parking guideline contract signed when they are issued their parking permit or students can loose their permit.

There is a parking committee that meets twice a year to adjust parking guidelines and discuss current issues. Through discussion, feedback and consensus, the parking committee is confident that the parking guidelines provide consistency and equity for the parking situation at Pinnacle. The parking committee's proposal was approved by school council and is revisited yearly. Please e-mail Brenda Corte if you have suggestions or questions regarding parking procedures at PHS and she will forward them to the parking committee.

Student parking is limited to student parking lot at PHS. Please be advised that if any student parks on the street or in the desert illegally, the Phoenix police will ticket with no exception

PVUSD Voluntary Drug Testing Program

Paradise Valley Unified School District piloted an expanded drug testing program for students in our district in 2006.  This was as a result of survey results from parents of middle- and high-school students in the spring of 2005.   Prior to the 2005-2006 school year, the only students who were part of our district’s random student drug testing program were those who participated in activities sponsored by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA). Nearly 90 percent of the parents and guardians who responded to the survey were in favor of expanding voluntary, random drug testing to the broader student population, with parent permission.
