SCHOLARSHIPS
Please see Lisa Kent, Academic Technician, in the Counseling office for any assistance with information on current scholarships.  Applications or information about the following scholarships can be found in the scholarship file located in Mrs. Kent’s office in the Counseling Department.  Counseling office, Freshman and Senior Advisors, and the College & Career Center will have a Monthly Scholarship bulletin posted in their room.  You can also go to the Pinnacle High School website @ cmweb.pvschools.net/phsweb and view the scholarships under the Counseling link.  On the front page of Pinnacle’s counseling webpage click “Monthly Scholarships” for current up-to-date scholarships or “Website Scholarship Opportunities” for scholarships that have come into Pinnacle from past to present.  (Please use our “Family Connection” program to search for scholarship information.)

FAMILY CONNECTION
Family Connection through the Naviance program, is a web-based service designed especially for students and parents to use for researching colleges, signing up for college visits, and getting involved in the planning and advising of their high school courses, colleges and careers.  Family Connection is linked with counselor’s Office, a service that counseling can use to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that’s specific to our school.  Family Connection also let’s us share information with you and your child about upcoming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other web resources for college and career information. https://connection.naviance.com/fc/signin.php?hsid=pvpinnacle
 
 
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
Information on colleges and careers are to be found in our College and Career Center.  It is located in the Administration building, room #A    .  It is open throughout the school day.  All students are welcomed to come by or the student can set up an appointment with Mrs. LaPorte, College and Career Center Coordinator, to have any questions answered or if they need any assistance in locating information on any college or career.

KAPLAN - PSAT/SAT COURSES
Kaplan is offering PSAT and SAT Prep Courses for sophomores, juniors and seniors for their fall or spring sessions.  Register through PVUSD Community Education 602-867-5109 or go on line @ http://comed.pvusd.k12.az.us or call 1-800-KAPTEST for further questions.
 
PARADISE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE – SAT/ACT PREP WORKSHOPS

MARICOPA COMMUNITY COLLEGES ASSESSMENT/TESTING CENTER – (PVCC, Phoenix College, GCC, SCC and Estrella Mountain)
Placement assessment tests are offered in: English, reading, math, or ESL using ASSET, COMPASS or CELSA (must be started at least one hour before closing).  STEP 1:  Complete the Student Information Form (Admission) online for community college of choice @ www.maricopa.edu/getting_started;  STEP 2:  Take course placement test at your community college of choice;  STEP 3:  Talk with an academic advisor and register at your community college of choice.
 
 
MILITARY ON CAMPUS
Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy
All military forces will be on campus the first Tuesday of each month.
During lunch 11:30AM-12:07
Military will meet with students that would like information on the military in the College and Career Center.  The College and Career Center is now located in Administration building.

TUTORING
 
NHS (National Honors Society) will be offering FREE tutoring from PHS NHS members.  Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 6:50am – 7:20am in the ITC.
 
Aim For Excellence – A supervised study club.  A certified staff member will be on duty to assist PHS students with homework, assignments and individual academic needs.  It will be held in the either the F112 or C115 lecture hall from 2:15PM-3:00PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from September 23rd – December 11th.  The cost of the program is $60 per semester.  Applications are available in the administration building.  Please see Attendance office for any questions.
 
PHS Peer Tutors – Counseling is working on a list of PHS students that have expressed an interest in tutoring for math.  Price varies per tutor. More information to follow.
