North Ranch PTA Meeting

October 1, 2008
1. Call to order @ 6:01 pm
2. Special Guest – Tom Elliot – Assistant Superintendent of Business Services PVUSD – discussed the M&O override and the D-3 Override on the upcoming election.
3. Minutes from August 27, 2008 for approval. Dr. Hartley provided the motion to approve and Tami Taylor 2nd the motion and they were approved by the membership.
4. Important Commuications –
• Dr. Hartley discussed sponsoring the Student Council, along with a lot of help from a lot of teachers and parents. Discussed PVLearners and some of the new programs the teachers will be using with their new laptops.
• Teacher – Gwen Krell reports no questions from teachers, and thanked PTA for all they do
• UPC – Tami Taylor – discussed the last meeting’s topic – Marketing Our Schools.
• Student Council – Kris Chavez, President and Kaitlyn Chavez, public relations in attendence and discussed starting Candy Grams for a fundraiser.
• School Council Representative – Gary Fricky had nothing to report.
• Liz Wolpert – Health and Safety – discussed peanut allergies and lunchroom procedures, cars blocking the crosswalk during pick-up
• Lynn White – legislative representative – discussed upcoming election and budget.
5. Treasurer Report
• Thanks to Sherry Beller for doing the PTA taxes for reduced rate.
• Annual Appeal is low, discussed tax credit
• Motion for request for an author visit – Conrad Storad – for December 2, 2008. Library is using enhancement money and requests the balance from PTA. 2nd – Gwen Krell. One hundred and fifty dollars for the library’s author visit approved by membership.
• 2nd motion to purchase author Dan Gutman’s DVD for the library. Anne Hribar 2nd motion. Fifty dollars to purchase DVD approved by membership.
6. President Report
• Discussed not winning grant for PTA Healthy Life Styles
• BEST meeting at 7pm Sandpiper ES
7. Open Forum
• Anne Hribar discussed the garage sale for the Leukemia Society.
