North Canyon Dollars for Scholars is a tax-exempt, charitable organization under IRS code section 501(c)(3).
What is Dollars for Scholars?
North Canyon Area Dollars for Scholars (NCADFS) is a locally operated and supported, charitable, non-profit, tax-exempt scholarship foundation established in April, 1999. NCADFS is a chapter affiliate of Citizen's Scholarship Foundation of America, Inc. (CSFA), a nationally recognized non-profit student aid service organization. CSFA began in 1958 in Fall River Massachusetts to help local communities raise scholarship money for high school graduates. We are the first chapter in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
How Do We Operate?
North Canyon Area Dollars for Scholars has a Board of Directors and many volunteers on committees which work to involve the local community in raising funds through personal and corporate contributions. Those contributions are used to establish and fund a permanent endowment and to provide a wide variety of scholarships each year. All contributions are tax deductible as charitable contributions.
Who Will Benefit?
In our brief eight-year existence, North Canyon Area Dollars for Scholars has awarded over $235,000 in scholarships to students planning to pursue post-secondary education at vocational/trade schools, community colleges, colleges and universities. Early achievement scholarships are awarded each year to a number of sophomores and juniors in addition to the senior scholarships. Scholarships are based on need, academic achievement, and/or teacher recommendations.
