Anime Club
We meet every Friday at lunch. All students with an
interest in anime are welcome to attend.

Art Club
Once a month, students perform artistic activities
and once a week, they meet at a member's home to
discuss club activities and fund-raisers. The club
works to increase artistic activity and fun.

Ceramics Club
Learn all aspects of ceramic art.

Foreign Language Clubs (French and Spanish)
Members are given the opportunity to get in touch with
the cultural language while participating in many
campus events such as the Homecoming Parade and Club
Day.
Geology Club
The Geology Club practices lapidary skills, rock polishing
techniques, and tumbling rocks to make gems. The
club takes field trips to the Grand Canyon, Gold
Panning, and climbs mountains to appreciate the geology
of Arizona. Sponsor:

Key Club
Key Club has been involved in Special Olympics, serving
the homeless through St. Mary's Food Bank, and volunteering
at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Key Clubs main function
is to serve the community and having fun!

Lit Mag
Lit Mag is a collection of students' original art work.
It gives young talented artists the opportunity to
express themselves in a campus magazine.
March of Dimes
March of Dimes raises money for the nationally known
cause. See our web page.
Perfect Vision
Perfect Vision was formed to unite students of different
racial backgrounds by allowing them to learn about
other cultures while participating in various campus
events such as Club Day.

Photography Club
Photo Club members submit their art work to the district
art show. Sponsor: Ms. Pleake, Room 405
Physics Club
The objective of the physics club is to conduct further
investigations in the physical sciences. Additionally,
we will investigate, review, purchase and utilize
equipment related to physics.
Rattler Speakers
The Rattler Speakers are North Canyon's speech team.
They compete in tournaments in the areas of debate,
interpretation of poetry and literature, extemporaneous
speaking, and more. Club activities include a 12-hour
Silence-a-Thon and participation in local and state
speech tournaments.
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
Students educate other students about the consequences
of productive and destructive decisions, including
driving while under the influence of alcohol. Club
activities include a membership drive, holiday awareness,
and Operation Prom.
Theatre Company
The North Canyon Theatre Company is the "drama
club" at North Canyon. This year, we'll be presenting
an exciting slate of large-scale productions on our
mainstage as well as smaller shows in our Black Box
Theatre.

Clubs As a Class or Class-Related
Academic Decathlon
Academic Decathlon is a club that promotes a academic
achievement and excellence. Nine members of the club
will compete in the Academic Decathlon competitions
at the district, regional, and state levels.

Band
The Band is comprised of the Jazz Lab, Jazz Ensemble,
Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Prep Band and Marching
Band. The Band performs at football and basketball
games, concerts, marching and jazz performances,
concert festivals, regional and all state festivals,
and some community performances.

Choir
There are five choirs available to students. Our choirs
participate in many events throughout the year including
local and national festivals, school and community
concerts, and out-of-state tours. Many of our students
also are selected to participate in Arizona Regional
and All-State Choir Events.

Color Guard
Color Guard is an integral part of the North Canyon
Marching Band. The color guard performs with the
band at half-time during football games, at parades,
and at all marching competitions.

DECA
DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is the
student organization for students enrolled in the
Advanced Marketing Co-op program. In this program,
students attend school in the morning and work in
a cooperating business in the afternoon and / or
weekends. In addition to the usual fund-raising and
social activities of a high school club, DECA students
participate in Area and State DECA conferences where
they compete with other schools' DECA chapters in
competency-based events in the areas of advertising
finance and credit, hospitality and tourism, marketing,
quick server restaurant management, entrepreneurship,

HERO
HERO stands for Home Economics Related Occupations.
There are three parts to HERO - club, class, and
job. Every member of HERO is required to have a job
for the year. This will give experience in the working
field.

Newspaper/Yearbook
The Rattler Review is produced by the newspaper class
for the student/staff of NCHS. Any student on campus
may contribute to the newspaper either in the class
or as a volunteer.

Peer Facilitators / Peer Mediation
Peer Facilitators / Mediation is a class designed for
student involvement unlike any other classroom or
club. Peers are students helping students through
the difficult challenges brought on by every day
high school events.

VICA / ICE
Vocational Industrial Cooperative Automotive Education
compete in automotive related events. ICE students
must be employed and active in club activities. Working
with fellow students teaches responsibility and leadership.
Club activities include fund-raisers for leadership
conference and related activities for the community.

Clubs with Membership - Selected, Elected, Nominated
Athletic Club
Athletic Club encourages spirit and participation in
the athletic program for athletes and non-athletes
alike. Members are contracted to work various athletic
events. Membership by nomination only.
National Honor Society
Students are admitted to the National Honor Society
based on academic achievement, leadership, and service.
Only juniors and seniors with a 3.4 cumulative grade
point average are eligible for membership.

Spirit Line
The spirit lines is chosen from all four grades. There
is a varsity competition line and a junior varsity
line. Their responsibility is to provide school spirit
through participation and support of all athletic
and school functions. They are present at all athletic
events and school functions.

Student Government - STUGO
STUGO is a class comprised of students who are elected
and/or appointed to student government positions.
The class includes knowledge and use of parliamentary
procedures, development of individual and group skills,
improvement of communication skills along with development
of budgeting and citizenship skills. The students
are responsible for setting citizenship standards,
developing school pride and spirit, and encouraging
service to school and community.

Wrestlerettes
Wrestlerettes is a club consisting of girls whose job
it is to promote and support the wrestling teams.
The girls score and cheer at wrestling matches, score
and cheer at some tournaments, and raise money to
send the wrestling team to tournaments.
