INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY – INFORMATION AND PROGRAMMING SPECIALIST II

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Proven knowledge of the basic aspects of programming, related problem solving, and basic system design are required in order to write, document, maintain and support required programs and systems. Knowledge of instructional uses of technology.
  3. Ability to work with enterprise, server and local data software applications. Understanding of Linux/Unix, Apache, MySQL, and PHP a plus.
  4. Ability to apply LDAP for network services through data base format, types, and into commercial and open source solutions would be useful.
  5. Excellent communication skills for application development, user training and knowledge transfer.
  6. Ability to work independently.
  7. Good organizational skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. BA/BS degree in computer information or related content is highly desirable.

 

GRADE:  28

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Information Technology.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist in the implementation of student information systems (e.g. SASI, Powerschool, SAIS, PEARL, etc.), their data needs, their high-end support and maintenance.
  2. Use a variety of programs/utilities (e.g., Crystal Reports, FileMaker, Access, XMLSpy, etc.) in working with multiple data formats (DB2, MySQL, DBF, etc.).
  3. Assist in the evaluation, analysis and design of new or current systems.
  4. Create system and program specifications, enter, debug, test and document programs, data and applications for new projects or revisions.
  5. Report status and progress of assigned tasks to ensure that deadlines are met.
  6. Provide documentation to users and staff as directed.
  7. Establish and maintain a good rapport with district departments, schools, employees and the community.
  8. Work with senior level staff and consultants to increase and further enhance programming skills.
  9. Other job related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Nine, ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
