Hands On Science Center Technician II

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school Diploma or GED
  2. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  3. Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds
  4. Effective communication skills
  5. Valid Arizona drivers license

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. General knowledge of school district organization and operations
  2. Experience in general warehouse operations and operation of material handling equipment

 

GRADE:  13

 

REPORTS TO:  Distribution Center Supervisor/ Science Curriculum Specialist

 

JOB GOAL:  To support the operational objectives and goals of the Science Materials Resource Center

 

ESSENTIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.            Develop a timeline for collecting, taking inventory, and refurbishing science kits.

2.            Develop a schedule for kit distribution and collection.

3.            Examine and inventory incoming kits from the schools.

4.            Prepare and refurbish kits.

5.            Develop resources related to communication and distribution of kits.

6.            Prepare for animal housing and care.

7.            Assist with the design of the center; including materials management flow.

8.            Assist in ordering refurbishment materials.

9.            Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community.

10.          Perform courier services as needed.

11.          Transfer district property form one location to another as needed for district purposes.

12.          Utilize warehouse computerized system.

13.          Stock, organize, and label merchandise.

14.          Assist in the training of all new and summer employees.

15.          Operate district vehicles as needed.

16.          Knowledge of MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheet).

17.          Other job related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Ten or twelve-month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the BoardÕs policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
