CUSTODIAN I

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Entry level position requiring general basic custodial knowledge.
3. Custodial experience preferred.
4. General maintenance knowledge preferred (i.e. plumbing, electrical, painting).
5. Have ability to climb ladders and carry 50 pounds.

GRADE: 10

REPORTS TO: Immediate Supervisor

SUPERVISES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff, and community members.
2. Assure assigned area is clean, safe, orderly, sanitary, and secure before leaving.
3. Perform regularly assigned cleaning tasks (may require lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders to change light bulbs).
4. Do special cleaning as required.
5. Assist with maintenance of school grounds (i.e. raking, watering, trimming, etc.).
6. Participate in thorough cleaning of school plant and facilities during summer vacation and other periods including simple maintenance duties.
7. Report need of repairs to night lead or head custodian.
8. Other job-related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.

SKILL TESTS REQUIRED: Demonstrate ability to operate/maintain standard cleaning and buffing equipment.
