COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Experience/knowledge of office management preferred.
  3. General bookkeeping ability.
  4. Experience in use of IBM and Macintosh and word processing programs.
  5. Proficiency in PageMaker.
  6. Ability to develop and implement projects.
  7. General knowledge of district policy and procedures.
  8. Effective communication skills.

GRADE: 19

REPORTS TO:  Public Information Officer

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB GOAL: 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.                    Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff and community.  Communicate with community, parents, district administrators and staff regarding information and data related to all areas of responsibilities.

2.                    Assist the Public Information Officer involving a variety of administrative duties.

3.                    Provide an efficient office operation with organization/planning (i.e., supply orders/distribution and cross training to serve as backup to other office support positions.)

4.                    Furnish information and answer questions in situations requiring judgment and knowledge of policies and procedures, including federal, state and district relating to education.

5.                    Coordinate scheduling of various committees, conferences, meetings, including preparing agendas, and preparing and distributing minutes accordingly.

6.                    Assume various responsibilities in the development and implementation of specialized projects.

7.                    Other job-related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Twelve-month year. Salary to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
