TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST III
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Clerical (typing) skills and word processing
skills.
- Previous experience with vision impaired
children.
- Experience with Brailling and transcribing.
- Literary Braille Certification required from
Library of Congress.
- Experience with Braille Graphics.
GRADE: 16
REPORTS TO: Vision Resource Teacher
ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain good rapport with
students, staff and community.
- Work with students individually or in small
groups in both regular and special classes.
- Prepare enlarged materials/worksheets for
students.
- Translate, read, and write in Literary Braille.
- Prepare materials using computer software or
Braillewriter.
- Produce Braille Graphic materials.
- Responsible for various office tasks such as:
answering phone, keeping track of Braille/large print books and other
inventory, preparing requisitions for annual orders, and providing
technical support for copier machine.
- Work with students in the regular education or
special education classroom.
- Implement established classroom management
program.
- Communicate with regular education staff regarding
student needs/progress.
- Assist teacher in maintaining necessary
records.
- Demonstrate positive attitude toward job
responsibilities and individual student handicaps.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be
established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job
will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on
Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
