TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST II
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Clerical (typing) skills and
word processing skills.
- Previous experience with
vision impaired children.
- Computer experience related
to producing Braille.
- Grade 1 and 2 Braille skills.
GRADE: 10
REPORTS TO: Vision Resource Teacher
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain good
rapport with students, staff, and community.
- Work with students
individually or in small groups in both regular and special classes.
- Prepare enlarged
materials/worksheets for students.
- Translate, read, and write in
Grade 1 and 2 Braille.
- Prepare Braille materials
using computer software or Braillewriter.
- Produce non-computer tactile
materials.
- Responsible for various
office tasks such as: answering phone, keeping track of Braille/large
print books and other inventory, preparing requisitions for annual orders,
and providing technical support for copier machine.
- Work with students in the
regular education or special education classroom.
- Implement established
classroom management program.
- Communicate with regular
education staff regarding student needs/progress.
- Assist teacher in maintaining
necessary records.
- Demonstrate positive attitude
toward job responsibilities and individual student handicaps.
- Other job-related duties as
assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work
year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance
with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services
Personnel.
