BRAILLE TECHNICIAN SPECIALIST I

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Clerical - typing and word-processing skills.
3. Computer Experience.
4. Willingness to learn Braille and related technology.

GRADE: 11

REPORTS TO: Vision Resource Teacher

JOB GOAL: To enhance/facilitate the delivery of service to the vision impaired students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff, and community.
2. Work with students individually or in small groups in both regular and special classes.
3. Prepare enlarged materials/worksheets for students.
4. Work with students in the regular education or special education classroom
5. Implement established classroom management program.
6. Communicate with regular education staff regarding student needs/progress.
7. Assist teacher in maintaining necessary record.
8. Demonstrate positive attitude toward job responsibilities and individual student handicaps.
9. Other job-related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
