ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN III  (previously Finance  Coordinator)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Two semesters of college accounting and three years' experience in A/P and automated full charge; double entry bookkeeping or minimum five years' experience in A/P and bookkeeping.
  3. Knowledge and experience with USFR Accounting and Coding requirements.
  4. Experience with computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office products.
  5. Supervisory skills.
  6. Ability to analyze financial data.
  7. Effective communication skills.

REPORTS TO: Director of Budget and Finance

 

SUPERVISES: Accounting Technicians I and II

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establish and maintain a good rapport with students, employees and community
  2. Direct day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable Department.
  3. Responsible for coordinating a large number complex funds and projects.
  4. Develop and implement new procedures.
  5. Responsible for internal audit of district funds to ensure compliance for preparation of Annual State Audit.
  6. Evaluate Technician I and IIs.
  7. Provide support and training to school personnel in analyzing district financial data.
  8. Interpret chart of accounts and code requisitions and contracts.
  9. Verify budget and cash availability.
  10. Prepares expenditure reports for Governing Board approval and ratification.
  11. Post and reconcile district revenue.
  12. Analyzes financial statements and prepares journal entries.
  13. Prepares summary reports, quarterly reports and budget reports.
  14. Exercises judgment when dealing with confidential information.
  15. Provides technical assistance to and reviews work of subordinates.
  16. Provides information and assistance to overall district financial office.
  17. Compiles and submits intricate Federal and State financial reports as required by federal guidelines for government funding.
  18. Accounts receivable billing and maintenance.
  19. Performs duties of immediate supervisor in supervisor's absence.
  20. Communicates effectively with staff, community, schools, vendors, and Maricopa County Schools office.
  21. Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
