ACCOUNTING
TECHNICIAN II (previoulsy
Accounting Specialist)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Two years high school accounting and/or five years
experience in full charge double-entry bookkeeping or one year of college
accounting and two years experience in full charge double-entry
bookkeeping.
- Experience with computerized accounting systems and
Microsoft Office.
- Ability to operate routine office machines.
Experience in calculator usage a must.
- Effective communication skills.
GRADE: 19
REPORTS TO:
Department Administrator or Accounting Technician III
SUPERVISES:
Accounting Technician I
ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain a good rapport with students,
employees and community.
- Direct day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable.
- Work with other departments/ schools to resolve
billing issues and obtain needed information for making vendor payments
- Interpret chart of accounts and codes and reviews
requisitions, purchase orders, and payments for compliance with the chart
of accounts.
- Verify budget and cash availability.
- Prepare expense vouchers.
- Post various sources of revenue.
- Maintain accounting records for Finance.
- Analyze transactions, balance fund records, and
prepare journal entries.
- Accurately input financial data into the computer.
- Prepare reports as required by State and Federal
laws, Governing Board Policy, and as needed by administrators.
- Provide technical assistance to subordinates and
other district personnel.
- Exercise judgment when dealing with confidential
information.
- Communicate effectively with staff, community,
schools, vendors, and governmental agencies.
- Perform limited duties of immediate supervisor in
supervisor's absence.
- Reconcile various accounting records.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine, ten, or twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the
Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the
Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
