AIMS Scores in Reading & Writing
  • 94% of 10th grade sudents met or exceeded on the reading test.
  • 93% of 10th grade students met or exceeded the writing test.
  • These are some of the highest scores Horizon students have received on the AIMS test.

School Tours
Horizon High School is pleased to offer all interested parents and students a tour of our campus! Regularly scheduled tours are led by current Horizon parent and student volunteers who are proud of their school community. The tour will take approximately one hour and will conclude with an opportunity to speak with a member of the school’s administrative team or counseling staff. The tour dates are:

8:00 a.m. - 9/1, 10/6, 11/3, 12/1, 1/12, 2/2, 4/13, 5/18
Noon 9/16, 11/18, 1/20, 2/17, 3/17, 4/21

Horizon High School presents Becoming a Love and Logic Parent
Six Part Series Parenting classes
Participants will learn the specific "how-to's" of successful parenting, not just theoretical concepts.
Target Audience: Parents with school age children
When: Tuesdays starting September 14 through October 19
Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Where: Horizon High School Media Center
Cost: $25.00 (fee includes workbook)

Teen LifeLine
Teen Lifeline will sponsor an event on September 10 at Horizon High School during lunch in conjunction with the 10th annual Teen Suicide Prevention Awareness Week. This week is sanctioned by Governor Jan Brewer and helps local non-profits to raise awareness about the unnerving facts of teen suicide, importance of knowing resources available to teens, and to promote positive mental health. Agencies will be present to distribute flyers, candy, brochures, cards and other giveaways. Come show your support and remember, take time to enjoy living!

Horizon High School has been selected to receive the 2009 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement.

The $1,000 grant is given to one high school in each of the fifty states to be used to support science and math education. The public announcement of the 2009 winners will be featured in the USA Today on Monday, February 23rd.

Electronic Report Cards and deficiencies available


The district is now offering parents the opportunity to "opt in" for electronic notifications for deficiencies and report cards. This will make reports available to parents in as timely a manner as possible.

We encourage you to "opt in" if you have internet access and have an email account, Doing so will save the District thousands of dollars and assist us in our ongoing efforts to reduce costs and "go green" in the process.
