paw2

Hidden Hills opened in 1989 and is one of 31 elementary schools in the Paradise Valley Unified School District.  We are located in northeast Phoenix just north of Thunderbird and west of Cave Creek Roads. Our school feeds into Shea Middle School (grades 7 & 8) and Shadow Mountain High School.

One of our main goals is to create a positive and productive learning environment for our students.  We offer preschool through grade 6 to more than 600 students at Hidden Hills. Our preschool is an integrated special needs program which meets Monday - Thursday; the AM session times are 8:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. and the PM session times are 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

This program is facilitated through the district Special Needs Preschool Evaluation Center and can be contacted at (602) 493-6130.  Our district-wide kindergarten is a free, full-day program that includes 180 minutes of language and literacy instruction and 60 minutes of math each day.

Kindergarten through sixth grade attend school Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Kindergarten through  fifth grades are self contained classrooms, while sixth grade is departmentalized.  Kindergarten through 6th grade also attend special area classes in music, art, library/computer and physical education. Strings and Band classes are offered to fifth and sixth grade students. After school enrichment classes are offered in a variety of subjects.

As you may know, our school actively participates in the Accelerated Reader Program. This national program is designed to enable students to take a quiz on the computer after they have read a book. The students really enjoy using computers and this is a very effective way to measure if they understood and comprehended what they read. There are over 103,000 quizzez with Accelerated Reader. This means there most likely is a quiz associated with a book your student might read even if the book is not from our school library. There is a website you can access from your computer at home or work to check for a quiz. In addition to finding a quiz, you will also see the book level and how many points the quiz is worth. There is even a brief description of what is book is about. the web site is http://www.arbookfind.com
