PURPOSE OF THIS PAGE

The purpose of this course description guide is to help you and your parents understand and select your schedule for the 2004-2005 school year.  This will be very different from your elementary school days, but also very exciting.  Consider your choices carefully.  Exploring the opportunities of the educational world is what middle school is all about.

Below, you will find a class description of all the Greenway elective classes.

WHAT YOU MUST TAKE

The State of Arizona and the Paradise Valley Unified School District have decided that all Greenway 7th graders must take the following four classes for an entire year:

                        7th Grade Language Arts Block

                        7th Grade Social Studies

                        7th Grade Math

                        7th Grade Science

These four classes take up five of your seven class periods.  That leaves you almost two class periods in which you have some choices. The almost is before “two class periods” because there is a semester class that you must take as a 7th grader.

GETTING READY FOR CLASS

In order to be ready for classes, we suggest you bring the following materials with you on the first day of class: a three ringed notebook with dividers for each class, notebook paper, pencil, pen, eraser, and a ruler.  The students in Physical Education must wear a P.E. uniform.  Students must change clothes.  The uniform will be black shorts, plain white t-shirt, tennis or running shoes. P.E. uniforms can be purchased during both lunch periods.  The cost will be $15.  If you choose not to buy from Greenway, you may purchase a plain white t-shirt, black shorts, tennis or running shoes from any store you prefer.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

You will be given a registration form along with this booklet.  You and your parents must fill out the registration form and return it to your elementary school office.

We hope this booklet has been helpful in your understanding of how to register for 7th grade at Greenway Middle School.  The entire staff of Greenway Middle School is delighted to have you as one of our students and is dedicated to making your middle school years a perfect example of educational excellence.
